Borehole Central was born from a simple frustration: too many South African homeowners and farmers were being overcharged, under-informed, and left with boreholes that underperformed. Our founders — both with backgrounds in civil engineering and water reticulation — decided to build a company that would change that. We started with one drilling rig, a dedicated team, and a commitment to full transparency on every job.
Within months of launching, we completed our first 50 boreholes across Gauteng — residential stands, smallholdings, and a handful of commercial sites. Every client received a full written site report and a post-installation water quality test. Word spread fast. By mid-year we had a waiting list and were turning nothing away.
Demand from farmers and remote properties pushed us to add a dedicated solar pump division. Off-grid water access is a game-changer for properties where Eskom reliability is not guaranteed. We partnered with leading solar pump suppliers and trained our technicians to design and install complete off-grid water systems — from borehole to storage tank to pressure pump.
Strong referrals pulled us into Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape. Agricultural clients needed irrigation boreholes. Game lodges needed reliable water for sensitive ecosystems. Municipal water pressure is unreliable in many areas — private boreholes became the practical solution. We scaled our fleet, hired more geophysical surveyors, and built the logistics to serve clients province-wide.
Borehole Central now handles the full lifecycle of every borehole — from initial geophysical survey and drilling through to pump installation, water quality certification, rehabilitation of older boreholes, and ongoing maintenance. Our clients range from individual homeowners to commercial estates and municipalities.
